UP Marks ‘9 Years of Transformation’; Minister Yogendra Upadhyay Highlights Development Milestones

Agra/Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay on Wednesday attended a live telecast of the state government’s ‘Nav Nirman ke 9 Varsh’ (9 Years of Transformation) programme at Vikas Bhawan in Agra, held in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.

During the event, Upadhyay referred to the release of the commemorative book ‘Nav Nirman ke 9 Varsh’ by the Chief Minister, noting that it captures the state’s journey of development and progress over the past nine years. He highlighted key achievements of the government, describing the period as a symbol of development, good governance, and public trust.

The minister said Uttar Pradesh has witnessed significant improvements in law and order, transforming its image. He added that initiatives like One District One Product (ODOP) have strengthened district-level economies and given each region a unique identity.

Emphasizing infrastructure growth, Upadhyay stated that the state has emerged as a national model with rapid expansion of expressways, airports, metro networks, flyovers, and waterways, boosting industrial growth and investment opportunities.

He also highlighted employment generation, stating that over 9 lakh government jobs have been provided in the last nine years, including more than 2.19 lakh police recruitments. Women empowerment has seen major progress, with over 1.75 lakh women securing government jobs and nearly 5 lakh marriages supported under welfare schemes.

In the health and education sectors, the minister pointed to the expansion of AIIMS, medical colleges, and modern healthcare facilities, along with the upgradation of over 1.36 lakh schools under Operation Kayakalp, leading to a significant reduction in dropout rates.

Upadhyay noted that Uttar Pradesh now operates 16 airports, with the upcoming international airport at Jewar expected to further strengthen connectivity. Metro services in multiple cities, along with rapid rail and inland waterways, are shaping the state’s future infrastructure.

He added that the government’s policy of “zero tolerance” towards corruption has improved the investment climate, attracting both domestic and global investors. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has transformed from a state once associated with lawlessness to a model of development, governance, and opportunity,” he said.
